Registration is $550 and includes a free copy of Test, Evaluate, and Improve Your Chess (2nd Edition). The Camp begins Monday, July 11th at 1 PM and ends Friday, July 15th at 3 PM.   1. Who is the Camp for?
  2. The Camp is for adults rated 1400 - 2000.
  3. Who is IM Dr. Danny Kopec?
  4. Danny Kopec passed away in June 2016. It was his wish that the legacy of his renowned camp, in existance for over 2 decades, continues in its final year under the leadership of GM Lubomir Ftacnik. Danny Kopec was one of the most talented home-bred players in the US. Dr. Kopec was New York High School Champion at 14, National Master at 17, Scottish Champion in 1980, 2nd-equal in the Canadian Closed in 1984, and International Master in 1985. He was an active player, journalist, writer, chess educator and scholar. His competitive results with top-flight chess professionals were always remarkable. He also delivered many chess courses, lectures, published seven highly recognized chess books, and developed eight highly regarded instructional videos (18.5 hours).   5. Who is GM Lubomir Ftacnik?
  6. Lubomir Ftacnik is a grandmaster and one of the top players in Slovakia. He is also a highly respected chess author, analyst, and trainer. He not only was the Czechoslovak champion 4 times in the 1980s, but has had first place finishes in many international tournaments over the past four decades. GM Ftacnik, was also a silver medalist in the Chess Olympiad in 1982, while playing for the Czechoslovak team. In parallel with his playing career, Ftacnik has served as the primary editor of Chess Base International's databases. He has written two chess titles with Danny Kopec: Winning the Won Game and Champions of the New Millenium. He is the sole author of Grandmaster Repertoire 6: The Sicilian Defence.
  7. What is included in the price?
  8. The price of registration includes 5 full days of instruction, lunch, and a free copy of Test, Evaluate, and Improve Your Chess (2nd edition by Kopec and Terrie). The price does not include accommodations, breakfast, or dinner.
  9. What about breakfast and dinner?
  10. All of the inns listed offer breakfast with your room. Each day the Camp takes a break from 4 to 7 PM during which attendees may choose from a myriad of local dining options on their own. At past camps adults have tended to form groups to explore local dining options together.
  11. What is the daily schedule?
    • 9 AM to Noon: Instruction
    • Noon to 1 PM: Lunch
    • 1 PM to 3 PM: Game Play
    • 3 PM to 4 PM: Game Analysis
    • 4 PM to 7 PM: Break
    • 7 PM to 9:30 PM: Special Activities
    Note: Activities begin at 1 PM on Monday and only light refreshments will be served that day. Activities end at 3 PM on Friday.
  12. Can I book my own accommodations?
  13. Yes, we have sold out all of the rooms at The Four Chimney's Inn, but many alternative inns and hotels are within a mile of the camp, including those listed in the prior section, which still have vacancies.
